Why Use DBMS

Uses of Database Applications include:

  • Banking - to store metadata about customers, like their accounts, loans, and transactions
  • FInance - for documenting and predicting sales and purchases of financial commodities
  • Airlines - to keep track of seat reservations, flight schedules, airport information, etc.
  • Telecommunication - to keep records of call, text, and data usage; and generate bills with this information
  • Navigation - to keep track of locations of relevant destinations, along with data on modes of transport (i.e. roadways, railways, bus routes)
